SoO agreement ha no longer extended in the State, the Manipur Govt has launched a crackdown on militants who were under the SoO agreement by arresting them for indulging in various illicit activities.
Kuki Liberation Army member was captured and weapons were confiscated by a joint team in Bijang Village in Churachandpur at 12:45 PM on March 28.
Apprehended person called Minsy (31), has been accused of various offenses including attempting to wage war and cause bodily harm to security forces and civilians, engaging in extortion activities, and violating SoO ground rules. FIR was lodged by 36 Assam Rifles at Sangaikot Police Station in Churachandpur district.
Security forces conducted regular area domination along the Manipur River corridor. Two columns linked up in general Area Bijang and found three suspected cadres with weapons. When challenged, two cadres fled and the remaining cadre was cornered.
Local women and security forces surrounded the cadre and attempt to apprehend the accused person. Around 100 women were involved in the incident. The accused was found in possession of weapons and ammunition including an SLR, AK 56, INSAS Ammunition, and BPJ cover with BP plates.
The incident has raised strong indications of KLA cadres using arm and ammunition looted from the state armouries, amd measures are underway for further investigation into the case.
